The pop-up shop turned makeshift bakery for Leiden’s Water & Bloem, which had a fire over the weekend.
The street smells like a campfire and the windows of their damaged location are blackened. Here’s hoping the damages aren’t too bad and it can reopen soon.

Spent part of today patrolling Leiden’s canals with the Plastic Spotters. Things I managed to yank out of the water:
- A large chunk of what appeared to be a bench.
- A Christmas ornament.
- A dog toy.
- Lots of plastic cigarette pack wrapping.

Been a while since I last scrolled through the NYT’s main page and didn’t get sick to my stomach. A big day for the Dems over in the US, needless to say.

Also: the crowd went appropriately bonkers for "Chaise Lonuge." Somewhat odd to see 1,500 people chanting "All day long, all day long, all day long on the chaise lougue!"
And the opener, Faux Real? Definitely not dull!

Coffee cafes in Leiden are having to crack down on laptops again. One cafe owner said he had a group of students coming in on a daily basis with their own snacks and using his place as a study hall for hours.
And when he gave them the boot, they actually bickered with him. Wow!
