I don't know about RDR2 but I had zero issues playing the Epic Games!! version of GTA5 (Ubuntu, Nvidia 3080, AMD 5700G CPU) installed via Heroic.

The biggest issue is software. Games (most work) and CAD (I have a MacBook Pro and I'm also learning to use FreeCAD).

I feel you. I switched my desktop to 23.04 for some long forgotten reason. I waited too long to upgrade to 24.04 and the path was disabled. I tried to do it manually but only ended up roasting my install. Good thing I had all the important stuff backed up and 99% of my configuration in ansible.
