Taylor Hall (50% retained) wasn't getting a "late 2nd" level 3rd rounder alone. So basically we paid the difference of Hall at 50% versus Mikko at 50% (~$1.5M) to move up get top 3 pick in the 3rd round (our own) which could be used to trade up, for a prospect or Offer Sheet.

As a Hawks fan, I hate this narrative being spread. We free up a roster spot for the 3 College kids expected to coming in this season: Greene, Moore, Rinzel. We get a higher 3rd round pick than we would on a stand-alone Hall (50% retained) trade. And we gain favor from Carolina in the future...
