Calum did not play today. But we did drive an hour and a half each way to southern Maryland to watch him sit while the other goalie and his team lost 2-8.

First away game for Calum’s 14U Silver — up in Rockville vs. the Montgomery Ice Devils. The Raiders showed progress but couldn’t get on the board. After one slipped by in the second, momentum shifted and the Ice Devils added two more. Final: 0–3.

Part 2 of today’s doubleheader: The Raiders 14U Silver are still finding their chemistry, but showed some strong moments in a 1–3 matchup against St. James. Calum was a rock in goal, stopping about 25 shots and keeping the game close. Lots to build on as the season gets rolling.

Welcome to the 25–26 hockey season! Game 1 is in the books for Calum’s Raiders 14U Silver. The team couldn’t quite find their rhythm vs. Southern Maryland, falling 1–6. Calum stepped in for the 3rd, but the comeback wasn’t in the cards. On to the next one!

Calum played 3 hockey games yesterday!
Game 1: 3–1 win Reston Raiders 14U Silver vs. Piedmont.
Game 2: fun house game-Calum roamed the ice, even tried to score! Won 10–2.
Game 3: nail-biter as South Lakes edged McLean/Chantilly 7–6. Calum held strong during 6-on-4 in final minutes to seal the win.

Herndon/South Lakes closed in on the end of spring hockey with a commanding 10–1 win over Langley. Calum took the net in the second, stopping all 6 shots he faced. Not many photos this time, but I did catch one of Calum making a save in a spray of ice.

Spent the weekend at the NJ Spring Thaw tournament, where Calum held down the net for the 14U Raiders—racking up well over 100 saves in 3 games. The team, made up of friends and some new faces, finished with 1 win and 2 losses. Great effort all around!

Mother’s Day doubleheader!
Calum’s spring house team had a 3–1 win this afternoon. We followed it up with a late lunch at mom’s favorite spot. Then back to the rink for a high school matchup against Langley — ending in a hard-fought 3–3 tie. Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there!

Calum earned his first high school hockey shutout tonight!
South Lakes/Herndon took on Paul VI and came away with a 3–0 win.
It was a quiet night for my favorite goalie — he faced just 4 shots on goal, but made every save count!

Calum made 16 saves in his 2nd start for his (future) South Lakes HS team, helping them edge out Woodson/Robinson 5–4. He held strong during a wild 6-on-4 in the final minutes. Big game under pressure!

Big day for Calum—three games in a row, ending with his debut start for South Lakes High School! Despite two earlier games, he stayed sharp and helped lead the team to a 5–3 win over Oakton. A strong start to his high school hockey journey!

Spring house hockey chaos: Calum was the only goalie, switching teams mid-game. No one was taking things seriously, and Calum was chasing the elusive “goalie goal” the whole time. Final was 12–7, but with all the player swaps, who’s counting? At least they had fun!

Great spring house hockey opener! Calum’s team jumped to a 5-goal lead in the first and won 7–3. He stopped 20 shots and allowed 3. Quick snack after the game, then off to high school team practice — nonstop hockey day!

The Rebels finished 2nd in their playoff group and faced Colgan MS in the afternoon, falling in a hard-fought 1-2 loss. Despite 35 shots on goal, they couldn’t break through. Calum played second half with key saves, but both goals came on his watch. A great season—now on to high school hockey!

A tough early start for the Rebels in Game 3 of the middle school playoffs, with "Spring Forward" and a 7 AM puck drop adding to the challenge. They faced Brambleton MS in a battle of two undefeated teams from the regular season. Calum started in net, allowing 4 goals on 18 shots. Final score: 2-8.

Game 2 of middle school playoffs was the most intense yet! The Rebels battled "The Ridge" in a fast-paced, scoreless first half. Calum took over in net, allowing two while the Rebels matched them. With no OT, it came down to a shootout—one got by Calum, but the Rebels scored two to secure the win!

Game 1 of the middle school hockey playoffs saw the Reston Rebels take on the Carrick Raptors. The Rebels came out strong, netting four quick goals in the first period and controlling the game from the start. Calum played the first half, making 11 saves on 12 shots. Final score: a 10-1 victory!

Thrilling middle school hockey matchup tonight as the Reston Rebels faced the Vale Vikings! Down 1-4 after two, the Rebels stormed back with five goals in the third to win 6-4. Calum made 18 saves on 22 shots. The Rebels finish the season undefeated at 10-0—playoffs start tomorrow!

Weird for a Tuesday, but Calum’s Reston/Herndon Rebels took on Stone Bridge MS tonight. Tied 4-4 at half, Calum took over in net, allowing just one goal on 21 shots. The Rebels pulled away for an 11-5 win! They remain undefeated with one regular-season game left before playoffs start Saturday.

Calum’s Reston Raiders battled Caps Academy in a tough playoff game tonight. He started strong with a first period shutout, but one slipped under his pads in the remainder of his shift in net. The Raiders pushed hard but fell with a final score of 3-4. A bittersweet end to a great season!

Game 2 of Calum’s double-header: the Reston Rebels faced Western Loudoun MS with a late 9:20 PM start. It was a nail-biter with back-and-forth goals and plenty of penalties, ending in a 7-5 Rebels win. Fatigue was setting in, but Cal stayed strong, making 30 saves on 35 shots to secure the victory!

First game of a double-header tonight! Calum stepped in as goalie for the McLean/Great Falls Cougars middle school team, facing the same Gainesville/Patriot MS squad his Rebels played last weekend. He stood tall in net, stopping 25 of 27 shots, helping the Cougars to a dominant 10-2 victory.

A thrilling exhibition between the Reston Raiders and Ashburn Selects nearly ended in a 5-5 tie—until the Raiders scored at the buzzer. They started slow but found their rhythm in the second. Calum was rock-solid in net, stopping 11 of 13 shots. Both teams put up 24 shots on goal in a great matchup!

Middle school hockey tonight as the Rebels faced Gainesville. Calum briefly stepped in to cover net for the other team after their goalie left injured, then returned for his scheduled shift with the Rebels in the second half—stopping every shot. Final score: Rebels 8, Gainesville 0.
