Oh, I see. Yes, I agree! They are making it less likely to retain their seats. I don’t agree with their logic, just outlining it - I should have said that in the original post

As for NH, the hope is that Pappas being against the vote will better position him to retain her seat next year. I doubt it

The NH Senator up for reelection in 2026 is Shaheen. She announced earlier that she will not seek reelection. This was a “safe” vote for her since she is retiring.

The other NH Senator, Hassan, is hoping people don’t remember by the time she is up in 2028

In terms of personal incentives, it’s probably combination of
1) Personal ideology and upcoming retirement
2) PAC money & donors, or
3) Having a post-Congress lobbying job lined up.

Or supreme gullibility that Republicans will work with them in the future

I suspect there were more “Yes” votes but these Senators, would be the ones that suffer the least amount of political consequences for 2026 midterms - not risk losing a current Blue seat.

What they fail to realize is that this will kill any enthusiasm to vote Dem and pick up any new ones.

I do not care that he voted “No”. This is an absolute failure on Schumer as Senate Minority Leader - he has to go

Senate Democrats (and Angus) who voted to reopen the government for only a PROMISE of a future vote on expanding ACA subsidies

- Hassan
- King
- Cortez-Masto
- Shaheen
- Kaine
- Fetterman
- Durbin
- Rosen

I see some familiar names here...

At this point, after a better than anyone could have imaged Nov 4th election, Senate Democrats caved and reopened the government in exchange for the promise of a future vote to extend ACA subsidies. What fucking losers. Chuck Schumer and the yes votes have to go - they are incapable of fighting

WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?!?
November 10, 2025 at 12:11 AM
If they thought the recent elections were bad, wait until the midterms
November 8, 2025 at 9:42 PM
LMAO What a bunch of losers

How does this not make one’s blood boil?
