AKA isthisnametaken on Daily Kos.
I like animals, nature, fiction and nonfiction, some politics (but trying to cut back), history, art, interesting stories. Etc, etc.
I only remember one flying dream, in my teens, many decades ago. I flew in a cross-legged, sitting up pose, as if on an invisible flying carpet. (But I didn't have anything like that, it was me, flying.) I had to really concentrate to get off the ground. I was afraid to go higher than the trees.

I noticed more pink scalp showing through.

I googled that and found the whole story on Project Gutenberg Canada and just now read it. That *was* pretty good. But there seem to be references to one or more other ghost stories, in this thread, that I'm not getting?

I'm so jealous! But happy for you.

Why is "everybody" leaving for Mastodon? I looked into joining that before I settled on Bluesky, but the process seemed too complicated. Everybody I'm interested in is still here or on xitter. (The latter, I never joined.)

Aw! Me too!

There was a book on how to "felt" leftover cat hair and make things like fInger puppets out of it.
September 26, 2025 at 9:34 PM
Yes! This is the kind my late cat liked. Hers was green.

Oh, *table* cats! It sometimes takes me a minute to figure out cat spelling. :)

Is this a children's book? I want it.

It's from the TV series, Babylon 5. I think it's a Shadow Ship.

That TV is the right height to support a smaller portable TV after the older, bigger one wears out. :)
August 16, 2025 at 11:53 PM
Somehow, that reminds me of when my hand-me-down big floor model TV wore out, it was too big and heavy for me to get it out of my apartment and disposed of, somewhere. But it was a perfect "stand" for the little second hand TV I then got. (In my early 20s, in the early 70s.)

The UHF antennas, you bought separately, worked better.
August 16, 2025 at 11:41 PM
It's a UHF antenna, so you can get the UHF channels, as well as the VHF channels from the vertical antenna that came installed on the TV.
(Born in 1952.) :)

No it doesn't. Why are there so many trolls on this thread? The kitten looks happy and curious, not scared or upset. And as soon as it gets tired of that hat, it will simply rub it off.

Fat woman accidentally killed man she loved. I don't get how this isn't sad. Unless fat people don't deserve any empathy. You know, because they're fat.

That's what the internet is for! Much of the pleasure I (an old lady in Oklahoma, who's unfortunately never been out of the country) get from Ben's books is repeatedly looking up stuff about the localities he mentions, as well as unfamiliar slang words, foods, etc. I really enjoy that!

Have they booped each other's nose? That's the next step.

That's why I always use a straw with iced drinks.

Even *if* he was 6'3" in his youth, he wouldn't be that tall, now. Everybody loses a couple of inches or so, as they age. From spine compression or even more, from kyphosis.
