Chart from you go showing the difference between the actual population of various subgroups and the percentage of the population that Americans in a poll estimated were made up of that subgroup so for example 3% of the USA lives in New York City but people guess 30% people estimate that 20% of Americans have an income over 1 million dollars where the actual figure is approximately 0%, 1% transgender and reality versus 21% estimated a lot of interesting things in this chart which you can find at the link
