I do like how every new Prime game sorta justifies the Federation's decision to have Samus wipe out the metroids in 2 more and more in hindsight. If it was just the events of Metroid 1 it'd feel overblown but now it's clear the pirates have been fucking with them for a good while between the games.

When you go back and read the original kickstarter goals, it only ever said characters would be playable. It was the very not smart decision by Yacht Club to turn that into entire built out campaigns with new assets and level design and basically make 4 entire games worth of game.
