Devoured The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue in a weekend- brought me to tears in last few chapters. Timeless questions of human nature explored in a way that felt fresh. I loved getting personal perspectives from main characters while playing with concepts of time, legacy, & love. #booksky

"The United States has become a secret-police state. Trust me, I’ve seen it before," writes @mashagessen.bsky.social (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2025/04/02/o...

Those of us who’ve seen secret police in action can’t shake a feeling of dreadful familiarity.

Since the election, I’d mostly felt sapped of power and motivation to react to political news. It felt so disheartening to realize that this time around people knew the truth and voted for a felon anyway. There’s no excuse of thinking maybe he won’t be as bad as he “jokes”.

Been lurking on Bsky but saw better vibes & community on Threads. However, given *all this* happening in US, figured curating community on less oligarch-dependent platforms is wise. So bringing the vibes I hope to find! 🙌 encouraging adventure, women finding their voices, writers, poets, bookworms!

What’s happening in the US isn’t normal. When an unelected person has seized control of personnel and payment systems and is shuttering agencies, it’s not an exaggeration to call it a coup. Do not go quietly. Do not obey in advance.
