For the people who don’t get it: if you don’t open your eyes until something is directly affecting you, I have no sympathy. I can have empathy for people hurt by a disaster without having sympathy that their own actions hurt the help they will get after. No antagonizing or mocking from me.

Not sure if you understand empathy vs sympathy. Living in the south I’ve had to care for many racists. Doesn’t have anything to do with how I treat them in healthcare. But do I believe actions have consequences? Yes. Do I believe you have to live with the consequences of your own actions? Yes.
