In terms of him being elite, maybe? He’s got a lot of room for development but already has some unique attributes. I can see him being good competition for Jackson and performing a similar role. He’s 22, Man City (and Derby!) academy graduate which gives him that ‘football education’.

Some of those ‘bad’ traits are things KMc will be asking of him. They’re low percentage things with high reward. There’s also a need to protect him from injury. Hirst is a good backup, but he’s injury prone. If Delap gets injured, we’d be in real trouble with only 2 fwds in squad

Things he needs to improve: sometimes he just tries a first touch into space to run onto, it can be predictable at times. His link up play is good, but sometimes he doesn’t release the ball when he should. He doesn’t always stretch in behind and in the channels either. Learnable things tbh

Lovely little step over move, sent Diego Carlos to Turkey, but there’s probs a load more examples. He occupies two centre backs, he’s big, strong, quick, good first touch, a ‘handful’. He’s also a good presser, I think KMc gets him to hold that back a bit as we want to save his energy at times.

He’s good at finding space in the box, old school knowing of where chances will be, and good at finishing them. Good examples: Brentford away, Bournemouth away, Villa away/home. He’s also good 1v1, Southampton away, and there was an insane Martinez save at PR.

His ability to thunder the ball is exceptional, he has an ability that I think is a bit lost in the modern game, he can hit it from anywhere, with power and usually on target. He’s so comfortable at controlling the power. Chelsea at home a good example of just shot after shot. Goal v Bournemouth too

Ipswich fan (not analyst) watched most games this season. So the thing that I’ve found most impressive is his ability to turn and drive into space, he’s a quick, strong runner. (See Brighton away when he hits the post). Plenty of other examples too.
