Day 2 of Funemployment - making a plan is the best way to start

Laid off in this shit market? Me too! I'm writing about it this time - hopefully it might help those finding themselves unemployed in a bad tech economy for the first time.

Calling it now: language models are the new web application. The future is bespoke LMs trained on cloud GPU compute. If you don't want to take orders from an AI, better start learning how to create them.

Last night I posted a motorcycle for sale on CraigsList. Holy shit. The internet is utterly broken. Between all the AI slop, shady conglomerates and scammers, there is no trust to be had. Good thing our IRL institutions and society is holding up well. 🙃

I think it's been since, oh, 2021, that whenever people say "maybe next year will be better", I just laugh. 2024 really putting in work to make for a great 2025.

Day 5 on BlueSky - Still can't verify my email, and @scobleizer.bsky.social is following me. Feels like 2006 Twitter. Can't wait for my federated instance to die on me!
