Escaping from the other place. This may be a strange mix of politics, sci-fi and energy matters - we'll see how it develops
PSA - if you’re boarding a flight and need a seated passenger to move for you, don’t block them into their seat by standing where they need to move to. You wouldn’t think this needs to be said, but oh yes, it does 🤦‍♂️

Bloody sick of the ‘red line’ shtick. Where’s it ever got us?
Up shit creek. Announcing over and over again that we’d rather keep our broken paddles, thank you very much.
I know so much of it is for Daily Mail England. But ffs. Can’t we change the record now?

@nikkimcr.bsky.social I love the podcast, but a minor correction- it’s not « the Brits » that might take pleasure at French problems, just the English. You get a free pass … this time 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

On a whim I rewatched the 2009 Star Trek movie. I forgot how good the opening scenes are. Kirk’s father dies saving his newborn son, son rebels. Spock rebels after his human mother is called a “disadvantage”. Setup for lasting friendship done! Phenomenal screenwriting by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman

I’ve lived in France for 3.5 years but some things still surprise my British sensibilities. I want to go to the fireplace shop - it’s open 4.5 days per week with a 2 hour lunch break on those 4 days. But it does have a cool name - translates to “All fired up” in English 😃

if you take Trump's threat to put a 25% tariff on all Canadian goods seriously, one of the first results would be an immediate increase in gas prices, especially in the midwest—Canadian pipeline-transported crude feeds key refineries throughout the US

I don't actually remember where & when I first came across Seb Kennedy, but he's a great data-driven energy journalist, and this article on his Energy Flux substack is free.
