I used to have a PS4 and also later a PS5. Both are vastly superior to their comparable XBoxes. But all my friends gamed on XBox and I got tired of being left out so I switched. The network effect is huge in gaming.

Its not the same experience. The network effect is real. The MAU of XBox is 5x that of Steam, and thats not even accounting for the fact that a Live Party is a better multi-player experience since you can jump around between games. Its just a totally different experience than steam.

Anthropic is going to be the big winner in AI. Not OpenAI. Better run company, more focused on business value and outcomes than platitudes and whiz-bang costly experiments, better enterprise results.

XBox has 500 million MAU.

When all your friends are in am XBox Live Party, and you aren't, then you are missing out. Its an ecosystem with a huge network effect due to how Live works. Cross platform play doesnt support a Live party.

I doubt it will make a significant dent. XBox ecosystem is like Apple, hard to unseat, having better hardware isn't really a factor.

Quantum key exchange has nothing at all to do with quantum resistent algorithms (that replace RSA). Replacing any existing codepath with quantum resistent algorithms is not hard. It increases the computation load a very tiny amount. Its just a common sense thing to do.

I literally have done the switch myself as a vendor in like an hour of work including testing. Its not hard.

If you aren't the vendor, then yes but people need to press their vendors on it and dont accept excuses.

Switching to post-quantum encryption algorithms is cheap and easy. Its basic common sense. Calling it "snake oil" is borderline. Everyone agrees RSA will be broken its just a matter of when, and its a known fact that adversaries are hoarding high value data to decrypt it later.
