Physicist. I know why the sky is blue.
I doubt many would be upset. They’ve already acknowledged him as the latter day Captain Moroni. The Church would remain silent on the matter, which would be interpreted as tacit approval.

I've spend decades, in academia, as a Gov't civilian, and as a defense contractor working to ensure the USA had the technical advantage over Moscow's expansionist goals. Now it all appears for naught. I thought we were the good guys. But I guess Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.

Sometimes integrity means doing what is right when no one will see. Other times integrity means doing what is right in the face of opposition. Having integrity means doing what is right all the time, regardless. But I'll accept any hint of integrity now.

The upshot is, Trump has motivation to direct the GOP congress to not pass a budget and allow the debt ceiling to be met. Without default the strong motivation to avoid the ceiling is removed. The ability to pay only what he wants allows subversion of congressional authority. Very, very, dangerous.

This will allow them to skirt default (maybe, that's a lot of money needed) and let Musk and Trump reward the supporters, while punishing whatever else they feel like, since there just aren't funds available, avoiding blame.

Historically when the debt ceiling was reached, Treasury would pay debts owed in a first-in first-paid sequence, since they had no way to prioritize some invoices over others. I'm betting Musk is going to be able to prioritize payments. Debt first, then favorites. No money for others until budget.
