Not exactly a pre sketch but this is where I went like "I want to see this through". Since I usually use a desk tablet, I'm not used to the connection a screen and stylus has as much anymore. So I treat it like traditional art. Lot of sketchiness, a lot of messy lines and a lot of erasing on those lines. You see that hand? That was a first attempt and I didn't alter it once lol. Messy, but it fits the style I think. But yeah nowadays, I'm less about the "perfect lines" shmuckstuff and I just color over sketches and focus on rendering now. Values, shadows and all that stuff go here. When it's all messy like this, it feels easier to fix later on. Not much to say here. Darken lines as needed. Shade in as needed. Not everything needs to be "seen" imo. Parts of the armor could be so dark that they dont have any detail to em and that's fine. I want the focus to be the hair, the most striking part of Hulknberg aside from her eyes imo. Then I just color over that. Low saturation colors and the Overlay/Color layer function have become my norm now. Just flat stuff that looks kinda boring for now. Lot of brown, navy blue and gray to give spotlight to the red. But we "trust the process". And it provides. Most of the time at least lol. Some blues were used to sharpen the hair. Contrasting colors and all that (I should take an art class one day lol) Blue and yellow are my favorite go to colors for lighting. I call them the "Dawn Set" as opposed to my other favorite "Dusk Set" using purple and orange. I feel the Dawn Set fits Hulkie more, but thats something that needs to be decided before putting in all the lighting lol. It could get weird if done after. Too much hue sliding and all. But yeah, if you read all this, thank you! It was just a little thing for anyone wanting to get an idea of my process for phone drawing. Still getting used to it myself, so typing out the process made it easier to understand it. Because I swear to you, not a single thought is going thru my mind while doing these lol, almost missed my stop on my commute once.🗿Anyway, happy drawing!
