The toxicity around gender medicine often stems from neutrality & curiosity being seen as forcing doubt on the person who sees transition as the concrete solution to their issues.

Self acceptance starts with family and community acceptance. Teenagers deserve holistic care and support.

Gender fluidity, on the other hand, can be a way of refusing to settle on one sexuality or identity. Adding a label to doubt rather than embracing evolving exploration of identity, as an adolescent, is also a fixed - protective - belief.

While biological sex is immutable, our identities are both fluid and often conflictual. Adolescents, as a normal part of development, shift between different masculine and feminine identities. Fixing an identity rigidly may be a way of denying doubt and confusion, and is often based on stereotypes.
