M. Pepper will open at 1306 Bardstown Road, inside the Bellwether Hotel. The new bistro is taking over a nearly 4,500-square-foot space that was previously occupied by Nostalgic, which closed in July 2024 after less than two years in business.

The University of Louisville Foundation purchased the property at 1901 S. Fourth St. earlier this month for $6 million under the name UL Cardinal Center LLC, according to a deed filed with the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office.

Roberson issued a plea to local coffee lovers on West Lou Coffee’s YouTube channel and Instagram page last week to help him stay in his hometown. He is challenging patrons to purchase 10,000 bags of coffee from West Lou Coffee by Sept. 30.

Louisville-based Yum Brands Inc. announced Tuesday that it is relocating KFC’s corporate brand headquarters to Plano, Texas, combining with the Pizza Hut brand HQ in the Dallas suburb.

TEN20 Craft Brewery will close its Douglass Loop location in the Highlands at 2200 Bardstown Road when the lease expires in April. The brewer moved into the space in 2022, replacing a Heine Brothers’ Coffee location that operated at that location for 21 years.

Tavern to Go will be located at 111 E. Hill St., near duPont Manual High School. The 788-square-foot cinderblock building was previously occupied by Hill Street Fish & Seafood, which closed in May 2023 after 31 years in business.

Rucker fears that the layoffs are a precursor to a sale or even the closing of LEO because a similar course of events occurred last year at the St. Louis alt-weekly the Riverfront Times (RFT), which Keating's Big Lou Holdings LLC also owned.

The New Albany Tavern will be located at 114 E. Market St. in Downtown New Albany, Indiana. It is going into an 1,800-square-foot space that was most recently occupied by Pints & Union, which relocated to Louisville’s Highlands neighborhood.
