These deals vary, but most involve up to 15 years in federal prison. As we recently saw with the Casey Goonen case, we are pessimistic that their sentences will be the short end of the proposed deal. Moreover, it’s not clear how these deals will impact the state cases. These offers come over four months into an unimaginable ordeal of detention by these defendants. They are being told by the state that these deals are their only option to avoid potential life in prison. The defendants are psychologically worn down and are now having false deadlines forced upon them by a DOJ only interested in an easy win that can be used to validate their ridiculous fantasies of “Antifa terrorists.” The majority of defendants have rejected these offers and will continue to fight their charges and to come home to their families and community. Unfortunately a number of defendants may ultimately decide to accept these offers. We have immense sympathy for the difficulty our loved ones are facing. We do not believe accepting these deals will be a confirmation of the state’s narrative, instead it will only be confirmation of the unjust and barbaric actions by the state that we have seen throughout this case. He and other Black prisoners sent to New Mexico this way were attacked during a race riot on September 3rd and have been put in solitary, mistreated, and medically neglected since that date. New Mexico corrections has been meeting with the Interstate Compact for the home states of each of the Black prisoners who to was attacked, and according correctional staff, all that has to happen is that the Interstate Compact from the home state accepts the prisoner to come home. UPDATE & CALL FOR SUPPORT FOR SHINEWHITE After four-long years of being held in some of the starkest, quietest, and most sterile holes NCDAC has to offer, I was recently released to general population. I was transferred back to Alexander Correctional, where it all began. Of course, this was done with an objective. The administration hoped to bait me into reacting to officers' provocations; however, I didn't fall for it. The majority of my property was confiscated, but I stayed cool. I was transferred to Alexander on a Friday, and the following Monday I was placed in a car and emergency transferred to Foothills Correctional. Never before have I witnessed someone be transferred that quickly. Evidently, Alexander didn't want me there!! CURRENT SITUATION Conditions here are somewhat better and other than being told not to bring my "revolutionary shit" here, I've been left alone. I've enrolled in school, been assigned to a janitorial job, and I was recently taken to Duke for a procedure to have cancer removed from my thyroid gland. I'm doing OK, but am in dire need of financial support, and this cannot solely be placed on the one individual who has supported me unconditionally throughout my struggles. Raising funds for me must be a collective effort. I am in need of shoes, phone and tablet time, and hygiene. And I would like to enjoy some real food. Any amount will help. Thank you in advance.
