Pinned post from the other place a while back:
Looked at googlemaps for this location. Looks like this summer, image taken July 2025, the tree was leaning towards the house *and* one of the two major limbs of it had been chopped off sometime back. If it were me, I'd be thinking of suing the City.

I'm astounded at the lengths people will go to, to have kids. I've never had to think about my decision much, not to have them. This story takes the cake. www.technologyreview.com/2025/07/29/1...
Exclusive: A record-breaking baby has been born from an embryo that’s over 30 years old
The embryos were created in 1994, while the expectant father was still a toddler, and donated via a Christian “embryo adoption” agency.

Diagnosis for cancer in Emerg? I wish. All I got was crickets. Had to diagnose myself from Health Gateway reports. Emerg just wasted my time and didn't even listen to what I told them, based on the worthless notes they took. archive.is/l2CB0

TLDR: the media is not covering what's happening in the USA and what its federal government is doing. And I guess - fascism - it's not *quite* unprecedented, ie they should remember history. I'm astounded to see "how did it happen" unfolding IRL now. :( www.cjr.org/the_media_to...

Well, I had a really beautiful musical day today, so I'm finishing off by again reading the obituary of one of my fave musicians, Ahmed Alshaiba - check out his Ya Rayah or Despacito on YT if you're curious. Gorgeous.

An amazing read. I remember asking a Syrian language exchange partner about the situation in his country. He said it was too complicated to explain. Yeah, to a naive Canadian like me, yes. www.theguardian.com/news/2025/ma...

So much of this is true outside of prison, too. Social reality is "constructed" or as we non-fancy people say - fake.

My American friend, who has lived in Canada 50 years cuz she married a Canadian guy, just applied for Canadian citizenship. She had said she would never immigrate. Well, thanks the orange fascist, she changed her mind. Good call, I'd say. But I'm very surprised by this today!

Wow, having read this more carefully, it's deeply insightful, I feel. As someone who could never make sense of gender, had I gone George Sand I would not have been able to have the experiences she had. I wouldn't have had the social imagination. Gonna check the book out.

Global sperm production is down, plummeting. Unfortunately, that is a sign of generally worsened health, not too surprising in this world. On the bright side, maybe it'll make a dent in overpopulation. Many people feel they do not have enough, and yet tend to deny overpopulation. archive.is/VriND
