Glad that it is not just me who wears a mask on flights. Usually I do not see anyone with one even among the Japanese passengers

A great book even for people who are not indie fans

I notice he has a couple of side jobs including helping students come to Japan. Presumably before reporting them for working too long in conbinis

I am hoping it will just be a bit of extra income rather than something I have to rely on
November 28, 2025 at 12:13 PM
Partly that and also because people could spend 3 years in the UK and then pay a small amount each year (albeit for up to 35 years) and get a pension. More annoying is that if you live in Japan, once you start claiming the UK pension, the amount is frozen

It does change the thinking. Apparently if you paid C3 for every year, you would need to receive a pension for 3 years to get your money back (ignoring time value of money). I am paying C2 so in the same boat

Even paying class 2 is a bit of a punt in the dark
November 28, 2025 at 11:27 AM
I wouldn’t say they are scrapping the plan since you will still get a payout if you have at least 10 years of contributions. It does mean that it will be more expensive to add more years though. I think Class 3 are about 3 times the cost of Class 2. They are going to write to everyone in July
November 28, 2025 at 11:26 AM
Whilst you can no longer pay voluntary Class 2 contributions, you can probably still pay the more expensive Class 3 (there seem to be some conditions about having lived in the UK for 10 years or paid in for 10 years). Also you still get the pension you have paid in for so far

One of the benefits of streaming is that you can post this and I can immediately listen to it rather than having to buy it to hear it. Enjoying it so thank you

The latest Mojo has an article about someone putting out reel-to-reel recordings (with a hefty price tag) so maybe 8 tracks are next

Worth getting a move on with it given the story today that the fee for PR may increase to ¥100,000

Did any of your Syd Barrett work end up in the sleevenotes of his albums? I think some EMI stuff went to UMG but I lost track of what went where. Don’t spend it so at once

I remember a story in my family that my grandmother worked at a factory where there was a big explosion but I am not sure if anyone ever heard the full story. It could have been this one since she was from Lincolnshire

I used to have an office next to the expressway and saw this several times. Couldn’t believe it the first time I saw it

Wasn’t there a fuss about Ishiba-san’s trousers when he became PM?

Nowadays the US does not need visitors coming in to overthrow the government. It seems to managing to do that itself

The Libby app for people with a library card has some for the last few years but only back to 2021. I only quickly checked though
