The UK is within a list of countries noted by Trump yesterday as being subject to tariffs, so official EU membership doesn't seem to matter. I agree though, Putin wants a weakened NATO and this'll manufacture that scenario.

Yeah, the UK is by no means perfect either! .... Our politicians are often useless and they've been genuinely dire for the last 15 years but we did away with mad kings a couple of centuries ago thankfully.

I agree. Even after Trump has left office, the world now knows that the Republican party is an unstable partner if/when they ever get into power. I suspect countries will gradually reduce any close dependency on the US, which is a huge shame as ideally we're all supposed to be working together.

I can only imagine how it must feel and you have our sympathy indeed. He's a monster with unchecked power, no strategy, remorse or decency. I don't know the law or the US process but hopefully there's some mechanism to at least control the worst of his decision making.
