The 101 Spring Street and Marfa sites remain open to the public today, offering exhibitions and maintaining Judd’s original installations. The Foundation continues to care for and preserve Judd’s work and archive.

Donald Judd (1928–1994) began working in sculpture in the 1960s. He bought 101 Spring Street in 1968, now home to the Judd Foundation. Judd established his Foundation in 1977 to preserve his art, writings, and archives, including the buildings he bought in Marfa, Texas.

#BlueMedium25: Blue Medium looks back on its work with the Judd Foundation in the early 2000s. Our primary mission was to advance the Judd legacy, focusing on the restoration of Judd’s Spring Street home, the completion of the Archives and Judd Library project and the plans for a catalogue raisonné.

Founded in 2004 and inaugurated in 2005 by curator and art historian RoseLee Goldberg, Performa created a new platform for performance art, expanding possibilities for artists by providing essential curatorial and production support.

A simultaneous pop-up exhibition at Thompson Central Park New York hotel featured Klingspor’s smaller bronze works, highlighting the artist’s process and exploring the idea of a city combining with its inhabitants to form a new species.

“NYC Legend” is an ode to the century-old urban myth of sewer alligators dwelling below New York City, deposited by New Yorkers when these pets — transplanted from the southeastern U.S. — grew to an unmanageable size.

Architect Sam Marshall designed the building, adding new galleries and a floor dedicated to the permanent collection. The upgrade introduced the National Centre for Creative Learning, a resource featuring digital classrooms, practical studios, a space to engage with art through sensory experience.

The international exhibition, Marking Time, presented major works across media exploring the visualization of time. Volume One: MCA Collection featured more than 150 Australian artists, reflecting on decades of contemporary practice and highlighting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.

#BlueMedium25: When the MCA Australia unveiled its remodel 2012, it became a bigger and bolder home for contemporary art. The $53 million redevelopment was made possible by generous contributions from the Mordant family, among others. Blue Medium was proud to help launch the expanded institution.
