The funny thing is that the Adult Swim series "Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law" did an episode staring the Jetsons where they say the Earth is now covered in water (the Ice Caps Melted) and is over run with Mutants.

It was a fun series, but you are right, I don't think they would be able to make it again in this day and age. The classic series ran from 1998 to 2001, and then they made two new seasons from 2006 to 2007 on MTV2. There was talks of doing a full reboot of the series in 2016, but it was Cancelled. 🙁
