Joke league

Could really do with a blow-out but both this offense and this defense are designed to avoid those. Would love to see Lauer and Fisher pitch some stress free innings but that seems unlikely

He refuses to believe he's too big for his basket

I can't even blame Rogers, they've provided a ton of resources for infrastructure upgrades and for a huge payroll. All the responsibility for the poor state of the roster falls on one person.

We've watched him fail for a decade, it's been a miserable experience which won't stop, please fire him.

John Schneider will likely get fired but the reason is that his boss, Ross Atkins, has provided him with a lot of poor players who are playing poorly.

Schneider has to play 5 or 6 sub 70 wRC+ hitters every game, there's no way to produce an offence with that level of hitting talent

I want to get off Mr Atkins' mild ride
April 30, 2025 at 2:17 AM
Any guesses on a 27th guy? Will that be needed?
April 11, 2025 at 6:04 PM
Shouldn't be too difficult, power bats are famously described as "low-hanging fruit"
April 11, 2025 at 12:07 PM
The trends on wRC+ for those three players are all downwards for the last few seasons.
Springer 133>104>95
Gimenez 141>96>83
Kirk 129>96>94

Expecting all three to suddenly reverse that trend seems overly optimistic to me - not impossible but unrealistic
March 6, 2025 at 2:13 PM
Will anyone in the bottom 6 of that lineup hit over 100 wRC+?
March 6, 2025 at 1:56 PM
That makes total sense to be honest - I think it points towards the Jays internal metrics and measures agreeing more with ZiPS vs other rankings. The article says "ZiPS tends to be higher on high-floor/low-ceiling prospects than scouts" which also tracks with what sort of players Atkins acquires
February 18, 2025 at 3:44 PM
You obviously haven't heard about the magical powers of stability and continuity - these are huge competitive advantages in professional sports. I'm see that we'll start seeing the results anytime now......
February 18, 2025 at 3:41 PM
Should be a huge package - maybe Brandon Drury, Billy McKinney & Julian Merryweather? Could Atkins get someone like Derek Fisher in there too - we can always hope!
February 18, 2025 at 1:55 PM
So does Atkins get fired now? What else does he have to mess up in order for him to be held accountable?
February 18, 2025 at 1:09 PM
It was only a few months ago when Shapiro said that he couldn’t see payroll being dramatically different than it was last year - what happened? The front office seems to be still spending, even though payroll is already $20M(?) above last year?
January 21, 2025 at 7:55 PM
It would improve them, no doubt, but it would absolutely NOT make them strong enough to matter.
January 18, 2025 at 4:54 PM
Because adding those two bats isn't going to make enough of a difference to matter in 2025
January 18, 2025 at 4:46 PM
I don't see a way out any more, sign Alonso & Santander and you sacrifice two high draft picks right as the long rebuild starts. That's a really bad idea but has Atkins left himself any other options? Does Shapiro pull the plug and say "No" to any QO signing?
January 18, 2025 at 4:40 PM
Shapiro has been pretty good overall but his continued mistake in employing Ross Atkins is baffling. To believe in the magical power of continuity in a failing front office is a huge, obvious unforced error by Shapiro
January 18, 2025 at 4:23 PM
For what it's worth, I read it and agree with you
January 10, 2025 at 10:45 PM
Colour me stunned that Mariano never did this, he did manage 9 consecutive seasons of 30+ saves & at least 60 games pitched
January 4, 2025 at 3:44 PM
Is there something I'm not seeing? How does adding another mediocre infielder help?
December 10, 2024 at 11:23 PM
Throw another "if" on the massive pile that this roster already has. I just hope the next GM is good enough to give me some hope, a miserable decade of Atkins has killed it
