Anyone counting Obama as part of "The Left" should not be taken seriously.

I didn't think this dude could gross me out any more, but here we are, I guess

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that our problems are because of the people at the bottom rather the ones at the top.

I can't speak for everyone, but it also helps me to know I'm not completely detached from reality myself, so I'll thank you for that.

If you're going to make a ragebait post, you might want to at least proofread it.

We definitely have that much in common, at least.

And I'm definitely not going to condemn Russian protesters if they were to criticize their own government for their own reasons and get killed for it. Again, I think you mean well, but we have to step back and realize the implications of this thread.

Regardless of how things play out, there will be some people who are pleased with the thought of the US being humbled for a moment, and I would not blame them at all. But I'm not going to pretend that makes Russia a "good" state, or that the attack was an act of benevolence...

Random hypothetical example: America is a hellish empire both for people living there and on a global stage for completely selfish reasons. If the Cold War were to suddenly go hot (in a direct way, not in the land-grabbing way it has been) and Russia were to directly attack the US...

Okay, I get the impression that your heart is in the right place, so I'm not going to keep implying otherwise. I agree, it's very frustrating how easily every world government can ignore blatant atrocities like Gaza. I just don't think it's wise to appeal to people to also ignore other atrocities.

It is. What you seem to be missing is that support for a regime change does not equal advocacy for a different genocide, but if that's the assumption you're starting out with then I think we're at an impasse.

... which really should not be possible.

This might be most confusing position I've seen anyone maintain. If they're just running weird propaganda for the hell of it, their rhetorical strategy is laughably poor. If they genuinely believe this stance, it's a weird case of somebody somehow going so far left they wrap back around to fascism.

I think you're having a very different conversation in your head than the ones that are happening on your screen

So for the record, we're condemning the protests against an admitted evil regime because it's self-serving evil is conveniently opposing a different evil regime? And using that position as the soapbox to criticize the moral failings of others?

It sure is weirdly predictable that centrists seem keen on exclusively defending the weirdest right wing takes
