For context, here is a page from the comic where Spider-Man meets Bats for the first time
A Marvel Comics page. Panel 1: Bats the ghost dog says "Ohmygodisthat Spider-Man?" Panel 2: Spider-Man leans down to look at Bats and says "Ahh, he talks! That's so cool! Steven, why didn't you tell me you had a talking ghost dog? Can I pick him up?" Bats says "I'm intangible" Panel 3: Bats says "Hey, wow, wow. Y-you're Spider-Man, huh? Wow, never met a real-life superhero before." Panel 4: A miffed Dr Strange says "You met the Avengers and Midnight Sons not two weeks ago. You met Sentry. You live with me." Panel 5: Bats says "Right, right. But man, Spider-Man, huh?" Spider-Man says "This charming dog makes a lot of sense, Strange. Panel 6: Doctor Strange drags Spider-Man away as he waves goodbye. Strange says "Zelma, if you'll excuse us for a moment." Spider-Man says "Bye ghost do--" and is cut off by Bats saying "BYE SPIDER-MAN!!"
