You had a great day! The Sandwich Tern pics are clear, AND it appears you had a Sanderling...stay still. Wonder if there's east/west variation in Least and Westerns? Your Least's look quite dark compared to Cali. And for many of our winter Westerns seems there is always still a touch of rufous.

Great article. As a grad program advisor/director-yes, its still bad. There's a modern wrinkle, a disconnect between the "intellectual story" expected for a Ph.D and "technological deliverables" that get grant $. Student generates deliverable, PI's interest moves on, student has to build a story.

So true. With the right motivation you can turn them into a surprising number of hoped for things, at least for a minute or two.

I see below you feel your impact is limited, but I think this point, that local connections are more likely to persist, is important . Impact can be gauged in numbers but impact can also be gauged by duration of effect. It all adds up. Very cool.

Excellent. And considerate. Used an old Super Jolly for many years. When dad hits the first grinder dose of the day, it was wake up time for everybody!

What kind of grinder is it?

I love willets. Drabbest shorebird ever. They they take off and you see the sharp black and white wings.

So their argument is that by hanging 1-2% of the population, the European gene pool was purged of criminality, freeing the purified stock to go forth and eradicate >> 2% of indigenous populations around the globe. Maybe they hanged the wrong people.

Thanks. Not my area, but wonder if you looked at something like height between the same pairs would there be more concordance or not.

Classic..this is the exact figure I use in my genetics class shifting into GWAS.

He was his own white whale with a sawed off head, dripping juice upon the windshield, leaving, in his wake, the smell of burning ambergris upon the road.

What the heck. Are they trying to make 60 minutes look like Mystery Science Theater 3000?

Whoever Barro is, he's an idiot. 1) Many accommodations just provide a quiet test environment in a room not packed to the fire marshal limit. 3) If the graph is based on a 4 pt scale, a net change of 0.1-0.2 means very little moving on. 3) But if it increases retention, that's a big positive.

well singe my whiskers, look what the cat dragged in.

Yeah, maybe a pulley system with different size cams...

For this class I just do the co-translational pathway, with the ribosome doing the pushing. That's the beach ball up top. I guess to make it to scale I'd need a really, really big beach ball.
