I am a blue dye, synthesized in 1966 and moving throughout the world ever since. I am a contrarian and a proponent of liberty and freedom, and I am a Democrat.
I think this is it from my Seattle photoshoot, but I love being downtown in Seattle and I love being rained on and I love looking at $40 parking lots surrounded by BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF REAL ESTATE in this lovely city of #Seattle

Downtown Seattle is confusing. This is because there are multiple Seattles colliding downtown. Multiple grid systems sprang up, resulting in odd boundaries and non-Euclidean angles (which Lovecraft taught us can invoke dark dimensions). This is one of those transcendental portals.

Street scenes. I visited relatives in Seattle and sneaked out as soon as the night came. The creatures of the night ... what beautiful images they make ...

I don't believe in anything supernatural, but I love Tarot cards. I am planning a big trip and did a past/present/future spread that clearly says: "The past of the matter is the Wheel of Fortune, the present the Knight of Wands, and the future the Nine of Wands." This is beyond argument. /1

There is a change in later life. There's a point where you realize situations are temporary. Everthing that exists is in flux. The people you are with right now will someday be gone, and the things you care about now will mean nothing. Sometimes this is triggered by a great loss. You realize /1

My Viking ancestors interacted with Amanita toadstools, which can be processed to create muscimol, a sedative/psychedelic that was used all over the world during the stone age. Use persisted until modern times, and people are rediscovering this. #Microdosing amanita is ethereal and unpredictable.

The #DrMikeIsraetel situation is so odd. In the fitness community, a mouthy bodybuilder with a PhD is being called out for his ungrammatical and extremely flawed dissertation. I taught writing for years and yes, it's perhaps the worst dissertation I've seen in a long time, but /1

I've been using ammonia with my laundry -- not every item, not every time -- but every two weeks or so I will wash my towels and washcloths and bedding in hot water with ammonia and detergent. Keep far from bleach, and use vinegar in the rinse to neutralize the pH a smidge.

All Hallow's Eve and the creatures of the night. I love the crows and I love to see their wise and crafty claws. I admire their design.

The Burning Court (1962) on Tubi is a goofy horror thriller from France, mostly in English but with some scenes in French. I love watching French people being dignified in all of the quiet ways they have of treating themselves well. I love seeing people properly dressed to take a cup of coffee.

This was the first thing I learned when I started playing with cameras years ago: the black squiggles on the water at dawn when you face the sunrise directly. Throw in a duck, I realized, and you have a pattern and a focus. I still take this photo almost every time I go to the river. #photography

I love crows and ravens and magpies and all of the corvids. They are cantankerous and fun-loving creatures. Like many people who grew up in the wilderness, I learned how to imitate crow sounds when I was young and I can testify that some crows are very interested when you talk to them. #photography

A lovely spider on a bridge. I wanted to see if the waves on the river blurred in the background would work with the web. It woiked. It woiked. #photography

I don't like throwing things out. I still have my old Canon DSLR (Rebel T6) and I just spent the morning with it. It's slower, it's clunkier, it's bigger, and it works perfectly. I learned how to juggle exposure factors on this camera, and I have a ton of EF lenses. It's a keeper. #photography

Jupiter and the Moon with Venus closer to the horizon at dawn. I am an astrology skeptic, but the imagery fascinates me. I was born with a Venus-Moon conjunction, and with Jupiter in the midheaven. Jupiter = bigness, expansion. Venus = love (venereal love, even). The moon = our emotions. Good stuff.

"And the summer became the fall. I was not ready for the winter. It makes no difference at all because I wear boots all summer long. Eye makeup dark -- and it's careless, some circles round my eyes. Sometimes, the real color of my skin is my eyes without any shadow."

I am about to take another train odyssey on Amtrak with a backpack and a camera. $499 gets you 10 tickets to be used within 30 days, with some limits. I took several 20 hr rides, and I might book even longer ones.

This is a freight train crossing the Clearwater yesterday. #photography

The farthest background is hidden by smoke, and even the far side of the bridge is soft. I'm always trying to combine documentary and drama.
