😔 We've received other donations in kind to re-stock since then, but today we ran dry. This is a disaster for many of our service users, who are struggling to put food on their tables, let alone purchase these expensive products.

ℹ Set up in 2022 with a generous grant from Embassy of the Netherlands in Malta, we were the first NGO in Malta to provide our service users with free pads, tampons, menstrual cups, period underwear, breastfeeding pads, diapers and other hygiene products:

ℹ The SCH team are Bernardette Mercieca-Spiteri (Senior Exec. Officer; Archaeologist & Osteologist), Paolo Spadaro (Exec. Officer; Archaeologist), Cristiana Gualandi (Assistant Exec. Officer; Archaeologist), Cetty Parisi (Exec. Officer; Conservator) and Aya Hussein (Exec. Officer; Anthropologist).

i) explanation and handling of key artefacts representing different periods of Maltese archaeology including pottery, jewellery and glass objects,
ii) conservation treatments, and
iii) informal discussion on how the laboratory functions and the main tasks carried out.

🏺After a warm welcome, SCH staff gave a brief introduction to their work, what cultural heritage is, and a quick overview of Maltese archaeology from prehistory to modern times. There followed a Q&A session, an explanation of the small exhibition area, and a laboratory visit including:

💪🏼 Students arrived, confidently set up the sewing machines and got on with completing their projects with minimal supervision. The learning curve was evident: far fewer snags and way better problem solving. Everyone managed to create a beautiful backpack they were so proud of!
