Flights should have been stopped to reduce and prevent transmission much earlier. Students returning from family visits brought it with them. It’s just common sense but businesses must have lobbied against it. It was obvious if you saw images of what was happening in Italy and across Europe.

We had a Funk & Wagnall dictionary and the accompanying encyclopedia. I read them a lot. I still, more than 50 years later, remember the definition for “emanation”: “The pantheistic doctrine that all existing things are created as effluxes of the Divine Essence”. Even as an atheist I love that.
