I had an old Uncle that lived in southern Quebec near the USA border. He used to call it the Excited States of America. He passed decades ago but I now think he was pretty accurate.

When I used to go to the USA I always thought it was a nice touch when people said "thank you for your service" to military personnel, past and present. I guess it's now changed to "f*ck you for your service"
