This is why we have to count carbs and provide insulin correction for meals and snacks. His body no longer produces the insulin he needs for regulation. I am just glad that even tho it is tough, Andrew is still with us and thriving. We have many sleepless nights, but that stinker is worth it.

Been using this guide to read Throne of Glass. I chose the romantic path and did Assassin's Blade 4th. I am currently doing Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn together 🤌🏾 Anyone else joined the Maas cult??? I've already done ACOTAR and Crescent City.

There is no converting from type 1 to type 2 diabetes. You either have one or the other. As I have said many times before, type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease. There is currently no cure. No amount of diet or exercise will change it.

Day 20:
As I said yesterday, so many things affect Andrew's blood sugar...I make sure to let everyone know that Andrew is a kid first above all...a kid who just so happens to have Type 1 Diabetes. This is why I advocate for him to the best of my ability and always will.

I haven't read a truer statement about diabetes. There are SO many things that can affect blood sugar. Mood, activity, medication, illness, hydration, growth...I mean really anything! This is why it is so hard to maintain at times.

Sugar-free isn't carb-free. Carbs=sugars. Andrew would likely require correction for sugar-free candy due to the high carb count alone. We mostly just let him have regular candy because we would be doing correction anyway. It helps avoid the stomach issues that can accompany the sugar-free goodies.

Andrew has a 504 in place at school that allows certain accommodations for him due to his T1D. For example, he can eat or drink in class when needed. He has access to the bathroom at anytime. There's more, but these are just a few things. I imagine his 504 plan will change as he grows older
