I made Eggs Benedict with cold-smoked salmon and mushroom bruschetta and of course, hollandaise... but prudently gave treats to all four cats whilst assembling my brunch. Got to eat in peace! LOL.

Quite a few of David Austin roses are reliably hardy here in Nova Scotia, particularly if they are either well-grafted or even on their own roots. I am not a true rosarian, I have about 8 or nine, including several rugosas, Scotch burnet rose, a couple climbers, a couple of landscape roses.

I don’t know what it is about this David Austin rose, but it always blooms into November. I’ve had it for more than a decade and even the polar vortex a couple years ago didn’t bother it that much. I just cut it back, it bounced back nicely and bloomed again and again.

I sense his chagrin, and sympathize with it. It should be Friday tomorrow. I blame Atlantic Standard time!
