i kinda wanna make this as handcrafted as possible & only opt for buying readymade things when there's no other option (to prove to myself that i can)

made this net tonight after work and only afterwards had a thought that i could've bought more smaller bamboo sticks, tied them together to form a lattice and THEN make a net in-between for a cleaner look and put fake vines/flowers through it for aesthetics bc this is not catproof enough (yet)

ideas ranging from diying the shit out of bamboo base & waterproof tarp (doubt its durability to withstand the local winds) to literally building a wooden frame from scratch with zero experience & unstoppable adhd confidence that i can do it just because i want to

or maybe that's audhd idk anymore

my friend was allergic but still took my cat in for a few months lol
the trick is managing the fur, unless you go for hairless cats, because people are actually allergic to cat's saliva, not fur itself

oh, no, the footnotes THERE made 100% sense to me too, both contextually and structurally. it was written as an academic's journal and the notes gave a deeper understanding of the world lore, they felt organic in that text. that is exactly what they're intended for.

I guess I'm just used to authors using footnotes in an entirely different manner so I'm very thrown off by them in babel

i'll be making some video check-in/comments on insta when i make it my primary current read cause i only read ~4 chapters so far

also Kuang's use of footnotes (that are usually for explaining references, concepts or terminology) to add more lore and background than could've been incorporated into the text if it was important that instead looks like an afterthought and JKR's FYI facts in twitter years later

inconsistency in character portrayal that is constantly switching JUST to fit a particular agenda (e.g., Robin's eye shape is said to be EXACTLY the same as Lowell's but then there was a scene where a woman makes a racist comment on his eye shape as if it's different)

currently slowly reading it and while it has some nice qualities, it's also just as disappointing as i expected based on the (overly praising, positive) feedback i've seen from some friends

plus we've been having power outages all evening and now the lights are on but bufet is sleeping on my leg so i am willing and prepared to sleep with all fucking lights on 🥹😭☠️

at least he won't get cold like i feared if they didn't fix it until 4 am
