Niece went to sea life today.

Me: So what did you see?

Her: I saw a shark, and they had a pool and I touched a star fish.

Me: Cool. Did you know they have horses in the sea as well?

Her: What?!

Me: Yeah seahorses.

Her: They look like an 'f' but they're not an 'f' and they have a long mouth

It's that time of year again. We are getting more and more such samples. The analyser saw this and was like, "nope".

Shoutout to the amazing @cozynoems.bsky.social whose art never fails to impress! I had a vague idea for new Only Cells headers and she turned it into something beautiful. Check them out 👇

Biochemistry are never gonna beat the allegations that they do nothing all day. Look at the size of their authorisation queue! 🙄🤔🤣

I’ve always wanted to bring lab stories to life, and this project has been on my mind for a very long time. What better time to do just that than Biomedical science day.

These blood film images are from a man in his 20s presenting with 7 days of malaise and lymphadenopathy.

No improvement so far.

What tests would you request next?

And based on the images… what’s your leading diagnosis?

This was an interesting #MorphologyMonday case because at a first glance it looks very much like P. malariae

A closer look reveals it's P. falciparum because🧐...

Preventing TTP relapse starts with the right monitoring.

In this clip from our webinar on TTP Diagnostics, we explore how early detection of ADAMTS13 activity changes can guide treatment and reduce risk of relapse.

This blood film is from a 30 something year old who travelled to Cameroon without taking the recommended prophylaxis.

A RDT (Care US kit) was positive for T1 and T2.

What do you see? What's the diagnosis?

Ugh, the annual daddy long legs invasion has begun! Warmer weather, open windows... and in they flutter. My annual battle with them has commenced. Any foolproof methods of defence? Send ideas (and window screens) 😩

Last year for #BiomedicalScienceDay, I wrote a song and used AI to spin it into 4 bangers. You can see my fav of the 4 here: youtu.be/dRy1Jt0L14w?...

This year, I'm planning something even more unexpected 😉 Hopefully I finish it on time!

War is in some scenarios a necessary evil, and should always be a last resort. Anyone who glamorises or celebrates it is blind to its true cost and complicit in the suffering it brings. Because in the end, it is usually the innocents who pay the ultimate price.

This is a peripheral blood film. What do you think is going on here?

Tune in to tomorrow's #MorphologyMonday to see what it looks like under the microscope 🔬
