So, the vehicles in Las Vegas and New Orleans were both rented from the same peer-to-peer car rental company.
Car-sharing company Turo said today it is “heartbroken” by the violence in New Orleans and Las Vegas, in which rental vehicles were used. “We are actively partnering with law enforcement authorities as they investigate both incidents,” the company said. “We do not believe that either renter involved in the Las Vegas and New Orleans attacks had a criminal background that would have identified them as a security threat,” it said. In New Orleans, a man who rented a truck from Turo intentionally drove it into a crowd early New Year’s Day, killing 15, officials said. In Las Vegas, a Cybertruck parked outside a Trump hotel exploded, and gasoline canisters and fireworks mortars were found inside.
