You see that sign there? It says 'apple sauce.'

Exciting thing in the post!

Oh hello. We're in the same universe as the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy where Oolon Colluphid writes trashy best-seller nonfiction books. I was more a fan of 'Who Is This God Person Anyway?'

"No, Mr Bond, I expect you to... regenerate."

Next up, ooh it's me old muckers Bob Baker and Dave Martin again. What could go wrong?

It was a long time ago, but I suppose it's about time someone carried the can for this.

When and where was I happiest? no-one asked. Judging by this: in about 1969 in our back garden in Keynsham playing with my late big sister.

If you see this, post an album cover with a motor vehicle on it.

Do I really deserve to be 185 places below the BBC Radio 4 Short Story podcast on the Apple drama podcast charts? I've practically made an exemplar afternoon play here! listenwithother.co.uk

I made another 'classic novel as 60s Len Deighton Penguin' cover:

Some parallels between Sweet Danger and the pre-Campion White Cottage Mystery: the location of Menton in France. And red hair, Allingham clearly had a thing about read hair. I loved the TV adaptation but I do wonder if Lysette Anthony was slightly mis-cast, being 10 years older than her character...

Had to skip a couple of Campions that weren't in my haul and one I'd already read, bringing me to Sweet Danger. Possibly coloured by the TV adaptation but this is absolute joy, Campion in excelsis. Hard not to fall in love with Amanda, but then Allingham appears to have been in love with her too...

Quote with your favourite film and album from the year you were born.
(Quite a lot of competition on both counts and some albums it would be cooler to pick - hello Monkees - but I'm being honest, like.)

Novel adapted as a series by the BBC in 1987, set in Somerset, the carnival features in it. Starred Susan Penhaligon... and a very young Christian Bale. I was half way through re-watching it when it got pulled from YouTube.

Demolished the first Campion in a day. Interesting to see how this is a development from The White Cottage Mystery. Rather interesting introduction to our hero. Not what I expected.

Tonight it's the next episode in X-Files season 1: Beyond the Sea. Maybe I'm just seduced by the lovely print on Disney+ but this is just extraordinary. Has to be one of my all-time favourite episodes. Again the horror motifs are strong with this one along with a couple of Twin Peaks moments.

Comfort watches: the season finale of Only Murders in the Building and the last episode of Floyd on France. Magnifique!

Sickbed comfort read. Pre-Campion Allingham. So far set in Kent so the real mystery is why there’s a picture of North Wales on the cover.

If you see this, quote with a robot that isn’t from “Star Wars,” “Star Trek,” “Doctor Who,” or “Transformers".
