Tail suspension test:
Mice don't like to be hung by their tails and vigorously try to escape. Immobility (decreased escape behavior) is viewed as depression-like behavior.

The innate curiosity of rodents to explore previously unvisited areas is used to assess working memory...can the mouse remember which arms its previously visited?

Mouse is given the choice to interact with a novel object or a social partner

Mouse is placed in a cross-shaped platform with two open arms and two closed arms. Low anxiety mice will spend more time exploring the open arms.
