If you are silent about your pain, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it. - Zora Neale Hurston

we don’t talk nearly enough about how we are reparenting one another in the smallest ways:

you don’t have to be in crisis to be cared for.
you don’t have to earn gentleness.
you don’t have to prove you’re worthy of love.

To be loved is a sacred thing.
“My writing is an act of survival. It’s what I do when I feel like I’m disappearing.”

It is a joy being married to this amazing human. I never imagined I would marry a wordsmith who shows us the parts of ourselves we would rather hide than heal.

But I did. And I am grateful.

We got engaged two years today. Now, @blkboidream.bsky.social and I are married, hosting family in our house for the first time, and were officially accepted by our first choice adoption agency. Happy holidays, indeed!

In other news, my wife is using her platform at MSNBC to give this world all she can handle. Check this out 👀
“Whether it’s enshrining abortion rights, prohibiting book bans or ensuring trans people of all ages have access to gender-affirming care, liberal states should commit to aggressively outmaneuvering their conservative counterparts.” I wrote about New Jersey outlawing book bans for MSNBC.
Opinion | This state’s ‘Freedom to Read’ act sends a message to conservatives — and liberals
Laws like New Jersey’s Freedom to Read Act should be a signal to lawmakers and governors in more liberal states that it’s time to play offense.

NEW: After reviewing leaked documents, we have found UnitedHealth is strategically limiting access to a treatment for thousands of children with autism across the country in order to cut costs.

Advocates say the company’s strategy may be illegal.

It’s both beautiful and exhausting navigating the world as a neurodivergent person. On one hand, my brain has given me space to engage in my mental health in ways I never imagined. On the other, it’s hard moving through spaces where self-awareness isn’t in the foundation or fabric of others.

Sometimes, people from marginalized communities buy into the idea that they’re the only one in the room because of how “good” or “talented” they are. That’s never ever true.

White supremacist culture loves a token.

Don’t ever buy into that false hype. Lift while you climb instead.

Day ✌🏾 @antiochmfa.bsky.social

A pen, is such a catalyst. My past self knew this, promised this, wrote this, and spoke this— no matter what. Grateful to be proving those dreams right: I am here. Writing myself into a society that is hyperfixated on writing me out.

So many presses, literary hubs, and publications are dying right now. If it feels like the literary world is on fire, it’s because it is.

Sending prayers to everyone impacted—you deserve so much better. I hope you continue to write and discover long enough for this world to hear and hold you close.

Proof: they not like us.
If discovery proves Drake has had inappropriate contact with young girls, this is going to get MUCH worse. Take the L, go to therapy, and regroup. We still like Drake with the melodies!
Drake has launched a second legal action against UMG over Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” accusing the music giant of defamation and claiming it could have halted the release of a song “falsely accusing him of being a sex offender”

I’m on an inner child date with my fiancé today. He took me to see The Little Mermaid, get a slushie, and buy an Ariel doll (and, while we were at it, a Mirabel doll, a Princess Tiana doll, and a Moana doll). My inner child is happy and my adult self is too. What a joy of a day.
