Canadian living in Liverpool, UK. Knitter, reader, hiker, lover of all textiles and the great outdoors. Once a bookseller, always a bookseller.
In the middle of a big cull now. It's easier with the books I've read, rather than those delicious unread possibilities. My problem is I've been a collector - wanted ALL the NYRBs, Persephones etc and they just take too much room. But darn it, it's hard.

Really interesting list. Great to see a collection of plays on it. Didn't know Leonora Carrington was also a playwright. I have a couple of titles on my shelves too.

It's really lovely. Am knitting a simple striped stockinette sweater at the moment with it. Very robust yarn, would be good for textured knits, cables etc and of course ganseys. Love the colours too. I bought several cones which makes them a bit cheaper. I do think it's good value for the money.

I've struggled to keep up with #nyrbwomen25 so one book a month works much better for me. Not read Sarton since undergrad years. I think she's hard to find in the UK but will have a look in the libraries.

Frost - it was 1 degree when I got to the park, but once the sun came out fully it was a glorious day. I did have a wool sweater and mittens though

Hooray - next to Lorac, she's the author I've read and enjoyed the most

Sorry to hear this - it's been my favourite show for years. Thank you for such wonderful interviews and curating and best of luck in your future endeavours

Shetland Islands Council has backed a motion from Scottish Greens councillor @alexjarmitage.bsky.social to boycott Israel.

The islands join the Scottish Parliament and Edinburgh City Council, which voted for Green motions on boycotts last month.

Have had the best time - hoping everyone gets safely home without too much disruption due to Storm Amy.

This would qualify for #SpinsterSeptember too as both main characters are unmarried and Sylvia Slythe is definitely a sinister spinster

She's soooo good isn't she? I am so glad Penguin is releasing new editions of her work every year. Loved this one too although I wanted to throw Geoffrey over the cliff by the end.

The ending of the Fiennes/Binoche one is absolutely bonkers. And yes, as much as I love Binoche, it was not great casting though Fiennes is quite good as Heathcliff. But all sorts of things wrong with that adaptation.
