6- Companion

Honestly fun. This movie had me laughing, cringing and laughing again.

It was witty, smart and once it starts it doesn’t stop.

I’m excited for folks to see this one when it comes out this week.

5- Presence

This film is misgenre’d as Horror. This film is a straight up drama. Another POV film. It has some really honest dialogue mixed with some really contrived dialogue. I enjoyed the POV here but I wish it had me wanting to guess the ending.

Not bad but not great.
Great cast.

4- Nickel Boys

A haunting film based on a haunting book. The choice to venture into this narrative in a POV perspective is really interesting. I’ve only seen it in films of the likeness of ‘Hardcore Henry’.

I’m not sure the choice was my favorite but it did its job for sure.

3- Sing Sing

A lovely film into a world that most of this country loves to ignore. This film should remind you that mistakes do not define people and circumstance does not define you.

More folks should see this film.

2- One of Them Days

A lovely buddy comedy. I’ll see anything Issa Rae puts her name next to. Same goes for Keke Palmer. Sza was quite a fun addition to the film, with great chemistry.

Maybe the edit could’ve benefited from less improv’d scenes?

Either way- fun and funny.

1- WOLF MAN

I love Leigh Whannell.
I think he is a visionary who keeps the horror genre from going stale.
I also loved The Invisible Man (2020)

Although Leigh’s take on WOLF MAN brings much cinematic achievement technically— the script wasn’t my favorite outside of the concept.
