Yep, it's the economy classics again. Or as my old XO at NNPTC once tried to suggest during a parking lot crisis: “People just need to drive in earlier to get a spot!” as if we'd all be able to park that way.

But I can hardly defend overall ecosystems that needlessly grow to resemble this diagram (Deloitte's attempt at documenting the mass of topics that goes into software dev today).

But either way I'm not away of any agile methods that don't plan in advance. The question is how far out planning goes.

The picture is still as true as it was when it was first presented probably a decade or so ago. Especially in a government context, where they can't get away with "distributed trust". It's a less efficient way to do the job, but it will make crypto oligarchs rich!

Evaluated by the KPP they care about, they're doing pretty well!

What's the failure rate through SERE? Or Ranger School? Or Nuclear Power School? Would these programs be more successful if everyone made it through no matter their performance, or if they had appreciable failure rates?

My parents got me this, didn't realize it needed software too. Luckily it had BASIC built-in and my school library had some books!
