In the most extreme cases, some smaller contracting agencies we know with FEMA have enough funds to cover payroll for the next 3 weeks after which they will need to do layoffs or close shop.

I run an NGO in close partnership with many local and state entities. First off, our federal liaisons have gone dark and many recurring meetings at that level (CDC, HHS/ASPR, etc.) have been canceled with no explanation. Indirectly, some of our partners can’t get any clarity on promised grants.

The most charitable thing I can say is, “there is a RECORD level amount of normalcy bias infecting so much of the ‘intellectual class’ right now.” There are many less charitable things I can say, but I don’t want to make Bluesky a toxic network.

Who is left that’s supposed to protect it? Trump gave him carte blanch to fire anyone and everyone.
