If you make bets evaluated, materially, on negative outcomes to people's lives, heath, and well-being, then you are a morally repugnant person regardless of whether or not your forecast model is accurate.

Oh it's been going on for decades. Traders bet on industries and securities disproportionately affected by natural disasters. Eg, futures on oranges in Florida during hurricaine season. Healthcare market manipulation during COVID. They truly only value one thing, and it's not life.
