But they continue to get tax breaks and make profits off of whoever they can? Why don’t we cut out the middle man and have the government make sure that tax payers are able to use the taxes they paid? Case in point the homeowners insurance situation in California.

Let me get this straight. Private insurance gets tax breaks from the government to provide people services. Additionally, they are allowed to charge services to people to make a profit. But, as soon as the company’s bottom line may go into the red, they dump people and cancel services.
