Pretty much. And from what’s been happening in the States, we’ve seen how easily it is for coverage to be influenced.
That said, good journalism is vital & should be supported anywhere you find it.

Cross border travel is down to levels last seen during the covid shutdown. Canadians are avoiding the US, maybe due to rhetoric or most likely they see a country slipping into authoritarianism, while Carney has no issue making “the best deal” with those people. It’s at odds with why he was elected.

This is such a cowardly stance & an abdication of responsibility.
The “prove me wrong” discourse that forces other people to do the work to show that they are indeed wrong is too prevalent.
Seems there’s a type of “outrage” that is tolerable & worth listening to.

Popped by to see if the line for the Criterion Closet was reasonable and no it was not. Snakes up one side of the street and continues on the other.

Log jam of 501/504/503 streetcars Westbound on Richmond from York to Yonge. Not sure why.

Also, nice work with the green paths. Saw a heron enjoying the water. But yeah, wear sunscreen.

Went to check out Biidaasige Park today. Maybe high noon wasn’t the best time since there were few places to find shade, could use some pergolas or canopies while the trees mature, especially around the picnic tables & bbqs. Also two fantastic dog parks. Temporary washrooms on site too.

Not sure I see the public park amidst the sidewalk. I suppose this previous rendition was to depict after the new trees grow in but seems like there’s discrepancies. If shifts in the original design continue, does Therme face any repercussions?

The park is open! And that dog park is very nice!

Update: @toronto.ca has the completion of this park as June 2025. Probably June 30th. I’ve got my eye on it…
As do other residents apparently, on my building group some folks said they sent emails to people.
I get it tho, I’m eager to try that dog park. It’s got astro-turf!

So tech companies are ignoring the environmental impact of their forced push of AI on top of ignoring copyright & labor protections. While polls are showing the public ally large isn’t buying the AI narrative they’re selling and mostly views AI in a negative light.

Dystopian urban policy warfare. Businesses couldn’t find actual residents who oppose the bus lane program so they created AI ones to use on their Instagram page.

Circling back on this thread, this poll is more proof that voters have been influenced by the same brain rot that the parties endorse (climate change, culture war), leaving a good amount of division amongst voters. The brain rot seems more common with the right but the left is susceptible too.

Update: Well, well, look who’s back at work on the park. A day after I tagged the City of Toronto in a post too. Just a coincidence? We’ll never know. But good to see work starting back up!

In Ontario, it’s easy to see the regional divide of dehumanization. I see the Facebook posts from rural folks I grew up with latching on to conspiracies & decrying their tax dollars going to people who made poor choices. But you even have tech CEOs openly funding & posting far right talking points.

A journalist looking for the public to provide evidence rather than do research? Seems about right. But this also seems like a pretty naive stance. These charts show the effect of the Cons inviting right leaning influencers with their culture war rhetoric has had on Millennial & Gen Z males.

Update: Ferdom completed what they needed to with the equipment they left behind & now the park has just sat gated for the past few weeks with no work being done. Is this in @toronto.ca hands now?

It’s interesting to do the math of how the circumstances down South effected voters. Curious where the losses for parties went. How many Reds went Blue, did Orange go Red?
But in ridings, Liberals flipped Cons & Bloc ridings, a few NDP. Cons flipping NDP in BC & Ontario & a few Liberal ones.

Construction begins again on this soon to be park in the neighborhood. They were building it all last summer/fall with it halted in the winter. Was tough to see a mostly built park (with a dog park!) gated off for so long but here’s hoping it opens soon!

Was my favourite film to come out of 2024. They just nailed the animal behaviourism down while infusing them with personality. I can especially attest to the interactions between the cat & dog.
