If the US had continued to support Ukraine, we may have been months away from the end of the war. The Russians would not have been able to continue to fight for much longer. They were making almost no progress, taking huge casualties.

One of our best security experts sums it up:
Worth stating simply what’s happening. An American government is launching a full-scope political & economic assault on an ally repelling an ongoing invasion to compel them to terminate martial law, topple their president, hand over minerals to America & accept a ceasefire w/out security guarantees.

The role of political leaders, unless they betray their historical duty and falsify history itself, is to talk about the crime before everything else.
For Assad, as for russia, crime comes first.
That's the message, both the reality of the action and the ultimate intention.
Oblivion is our defeat.

"...the failure of leaders to denounce Russian crimes on a regular basis is also a way of dispensing with the duty to intervene. It does, however, have a deleterious effect on public opinion, which is not always aware of the immensity of these crimes." 🎯

Its dimension is indissolubly national and international.
There's also a continuum between the attack on the rule of law at home and European & international law.

I feel the sound of defeatism in some minds. I is a well-known and classic recipe of Russian propaganda.
I am less worried about it affecting public opinion than certain governments' souls, which is the priority of said propaganda.
This is our war and we have to win it—by any possible means.

For the umpteenth time:
1 stop talking about negotiations with Russia;
2 the implication is that Ukraine cannot reclaim all its territories: unacceptable under international law and means more atrocities committed by Russian occupying forces;
3 Russia must be defeated in Ukraine.
No halfway.
Period.
Major issue in NATO's Stoltenberg's statement (via
Le Monde)
Says up to Ukraine "to decide what is acceptable to end the war".
"Our responsibility is to support Ukraine and enable it to liberate as much territory as possible and put it in the best possible situation, when or if negotiations begin".

Ukraine has heroes.
Our duty is to let them not die.
We know what we must do.
Time is of the essence here.

Russia shelled 118 Ukrainian localities in 24 hours, a level not seen since the beginning of 2023.
Let's talk every day about Russia's crimes against humanity.
Let's call on the Allies to act, without restriction.
Making Russia lose now is the decisive action.

CERI SciencesPo.
