Reminds me of my favorite Christian flier I've gotten on my campus. My favorite is "YOU ARE AN ENEMY OF GOD" like whoa really? Me? I'm honored

Feeding my black widow spider today. Just a usual moth. You can see her wrapping it up and delivering a bite.

I found the myxobacteria SEM pictures I was looking for. @regularslimeguy.bsky.social

You can see that the outside of the fruiting body seems to be a shell of cells. Although, having undergone dehydrating and drying, it's hard to say what the natural state of the cells are - dormant or sacrificed.

Bonus picture of my wife being chased by goats after they discovered that she had chips. They did get a few chips.

Our fastidious log inspections revealed some strange markings, maybe bite marks? But of what? Within sight of the house we found a beautiful moth and a very curious snail. And to top it all off, right in the driveway I found my first Craterium specimen!

As productive as ever, we found something almost every step. My wife says this bug is a bristleback and occupies some interesting evolutionary branch. We found another two strange fungi, and our last Ceratiomyxa. I believe this Ceratiomyxa specimen is an arbuscula, but slightly difficult to tell.

Finally, on our way back we found many slime molds. This first one is another Physarales we found growing off the stems of some plant and had also migrated onto solid rock to fruit. We found another typical C. fruticulosa and a bare butt fungus (the best name for Lycogala).

We continued up this stream a ways before looping back around into the forest to head back home. Managed to spot an amazing little salamander underwater before it noticed us and wiggled away. While turning over wood looking for slime molds (pictured soon), we also found a little snake.

Just a little ways past the log bridge I found what I think may be Diderma floriforma, but could also be a fungus... Then definitely a cute little patch of fungus inside a log. My wife found a crayfish while I was snooping around the rotten wood, and then I found a dead man's orb.

Along this stream we found our first slime mold! Some kind of Physarales, not sure until I can see it under slightly higher magnification. And, found our first Ceratiomyxa, which is solidly a typical C. fruticulosa. We also found a great caterpillar.

We found the meeting point of two streams, and went upstream of the second one. The last two pictures are the same log, but from different perspectives (note thd hole in the side of the log).

On our way down the first stream we came upon several interesting things. A few very good fungi and what seems to be some kind of mite on a cranefly.

Explored my mother-in-law's property as practice for the excursions we'll be going on in France at the nivicolous myxomycete meeting (traveling all day today). Her house sits nearby a convergence of spring-fed streams that all run together near the bottom of the property.
