More seriously tho, it’s a real issue - like the voices yelling most loudly for a “new” left Jewish (or whatever) literature are often those who out of their privilege have been ignoring the real work done by decades. Why not lift some of that up?

Thanks Laura - the author also fails to note that most serious American Jewish literature today is pretty critical of Zionism. It has other problems but Zionism is not one of them. And yes the author also seems to not have read minor Jewish writers like Gold, Paley and much of Roth

Venezuela is not communist (it’s a highly capitalist country), and Cuba has a higher life expectancy, literacy and lower infant mortality rate than the US, despite being far poorer. Ofc whether Vietnam and China are communist is up for debate but certainly they are not ruled by neoliberalism

agree - I don’t mean to say antisemtism is only a response to Israel. Right-wing & Xtian antisemitism are real forces in the US, & some anti Zionists do indeed cloak their antisemitism in a critique of Israel (including some v influential ppl). But Israel’s crimes only give fuel to such voices

If anything endangers Jews in the diaspora, particularly in the US, it is the reckless and wanton wars Israel commits against Palestinians and its neighbors.
